A former surface and underground Cu-Au-Ag-Pb mine located in sec. 7, T4S, R14E and sec. 12, T4S, R13E, at the horseshoe bend in the Gila River at Riverside, about 0.8 miles SE of the confluence of Mineral Creek and the Gila River, 1¼ miles SSW of Kelvin, on private land. Discovered in 1903 by Jas. K. McCarthy and C. Kinney. Previous owners or operators include the Sultana-Arizona Copper Co. (1908); Kelvin Sultana Copper Co.(1916); J. Erman (1906); Ray Boston Copper Co. (1919). Owned by Morris and Lucy Q. Wilkins (1968). Claims include the Diamond Joe, Wm. J. Bryan Nos. 2-5, St. Karl, St. Karl No. 2-3, Contact, Little Clara, John B. Mecham, Silver Twig and possibly others. May include the Old Ray Arizona Copper property. Produced 1903-1918. Patented claims extend into sec. 12 of T4S, R13E. Also designated/known as: Patented claims MS 2723. Additional alternative names which apply to this locality: Ray Boston Mine; Bryan group; Ray Arizona Copper properties; and the Shoemaker Mine.

Mineralization is related to steeply dipping fissure zones. Associated rock units are the Ruin (Oracle) Granite and the Teapot Mountain Porphyry. Area structures include the Riverside breccia pipe, which is directly west of the mine. Also E-W to ENE-trending veins and the teapot Mountain Porphyry dikes are present.

Workings include the Diamond Joe shaft (175 feet deep), the Westfall shaft (530 feet deep), the No. 2 shaft (180 feet deep), the No. 3 shaft (57 feet deep), and the No. 4 shaft (100 feet deep), all of which are connected by a drift running N-S; other workings are the No. 1 shaft (100 feet deep), the Twin shaft (20 feet deep). Most of the development is on the Wm. J. Bryan, and Wm. J. Bryan No. 2 and No. 3 claims and the Diamond Joe claim.
