A former surface and underground Ag-Au-Pb-Zn mine located in sec. 31, T9S, R5E, about 2 miles W of Tat Momoli and about 3.8 miles directly N of Prieta Peak. Discovered 1895. Produced 1906-1938. Additional names which apply to this locality: ; Southern Gold patent 2852; Old Gold Mine; Golden Chariot Mine.

Mineralization involves two NE-trending fault systems with permeability hosted in the Escabrosa Limestone with replacement deposits in adjacent breccia. The eastern fault system is 2,200 feet long. The western system is at least 1,800 feet long. Bedding of the limestone is NE-trending dip. Alteration is silicification and pyritization. Orebody(ies) are lens-shaped, strike N60E, dip 50-60S, are 1.83 meters wide and 914.4 meters long. These deposits are not directly related to a porphyry sill here. Mineralization is apparently post sill emplacement. Replacement bodies formed where faults encountered highly fractured limestone.

Workings include 7 shallow shafts, numerous cuts and pits, some stoping, a haulage adit of 150 foot length. The underground workings are now inaccessible. The original work was done by the Desert Queen Gold Mining Co. (1905 to 1907). R.L. Dye was operator in 1938. Apex did geologic evaluation and sampling; reevaluated previous drill data in 1984-1986.
