One of 3 old mines located basically on the shore between Brantevik and Gislövshammar. The other 2 are Isaksgruvan and Jakobsgruvan in in the S.
They were mined for silver and lead during the 16th century by the Danes who camouflaged them after the peace-treaty which made the province Skåne belong to Sweden in 1658. Rediscovered and reopened after some years with minor success (late 17th). Became important again as a source for fluorite during the WWII together with Gladsax and Onslunda-Tunbyholm quarries.
The earliest Swedish papers are from 1687 with a small production of Ag & Pb. Export of fluorite to Denmark is noted for 1785.
