An antimony mine located in the Humboldt Range, near Lovelock; Sec 35 T31N R34E.
Structure: Reg.Struct: Faults And Cross Faults, Tending N-S, Nne-Ssw, Cause Alot Of Gouge Faults And Cross-Faults Trending N-S, Nne-Ssw
Alteration: Silicification, Some Sericitized Feldspar
Commodity: Other ore minerals not given in the literature
Deposit: Deposit consists of an east and west vein. The ore was mostly high quality antimony associated with Ag and minor pb, contained in 2 quartz stibnite veins a few feet thick about 200 feet apart in a mineralized zone of steeply dipping fissure veins. The west vein is offset by an east-west fault with the northern segment striking n10e and dips 85 degrees W and is relatively barren; the southern segment strikes n10w, dips 80-85 degrees E and contains abundant stibnite. The east vein strikes n10-25e and dips 80-85e and intersects a barren fault with strike n25e, dipping east. Stibnite occurs As pods, streaks and single crystals in the quartz, and in gouge. Pyrite is comon both in veins and disseminated through wall rock. Limestonne, sandstone and siltstones of the star peak formation overlie the rhyolite and crop out a short distance west of the workings. Ore is confined to rhyolite.; model name could also be: simple sb. Discovered in 1868. Antimony first produced in 1871.other years of production 1907, 1912, 1917-21, 1938, 1940, 1942. Mine worked intermittently to 1942. This mine was one of the largest producers of antimony ore in nevada. Most of ore was mined from the south segment of the west vein by stoping from the main adit that cuts the vein 200 feet belo W surface. Several short adits and trenches explore surface exposures of westvein and also follo W the east vein. ; info.src : 1 pub lit
