Structure: Stank Fault Numerous Faults
Deposit: These workings are on the sutton beds that have been faulted and cut from the north sutton bed workings. Future mining of this portion of the sutton beds will be through the new springer shaft to the south. The uncle sam workings are on the sutton beds that have been faulted and cut from the north soutton bed workings. The uncle sam is located between the olsen stock and north sutton mine, east of the uncle sam stock. A small tonnage of ore was mined from the uncle sam adit and open pit, but most of the lower extension was mined underground from the north sutton mine. Now under development by utah international and is now called the springer mine which includes the north sutton, south sutton, baker and orphan mines. ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept
Deposit type: W skarn
Development: In 1917 the olsen claim group was controlled by pacific tungsten co, and they were developed separately from the m-ill city tungsten mining co sutton mines. Drilling by the USBM- in 1941 gave indications of ore reserves in the uncle sam area, and work by general electric co in 1973-74 confirmed that mineable reserves are present. This area is included in the new springer mine.
Geology: Sutton beds exposed in uncle sam pit show repetition due to faulting
Ore(s): Limestone Beds In Granodiorite Stock.
