Occurrences of opal (deposited by a sweetwater lake about 7-8 Ma ago) on the southern slopes of the Csaterberge mountains (Klein-Csater-Berg, 365 m, and Hoch-Csater-Berg, 341 m) east of Kohfidisch.
Coordinates of the Klein-Csater-Berg opal occurrence are 47° 10' 30'' N, 16° 22' 53'' E.

Due to the high iron content, opals from the Csaterberg area are often reddish, greenish brown to dark brown, less often pure green. They often show various shades of brown and gray.
