Deposit type: Hot-spring Hg
Development: Dmea contract recommended denied in 1957. Drill holes and exploration in 1950's by mullen-buckley uranium corp. Claims currently active in 1983, assessment work, core-drilling, roads repaired, location and corner markers reported. In 1982,assessment work consisted of exploratory cuts and sampling, road repairs. In 1956, grade indicated favorability of open-pitting large tonnage. Anderson did not stake the ground until 1954. In 1955, after locating additional claims, anderson and his partner, r.r. Robinson, leased their property to j.h. Smith and lowell bonnett. In 1955, smith and bonnett subleased the property to western mercury and uranium corp who produced about 3 flasks hg to 1956. In late 1955 and early 1956, the cordero mining co evaluated the property by sampling a 140-ft trench, 140-ft inclined adit, and sinking and sampling a 31-ft shaft put down to follo W a 45-ft churn drill hole. Later in 1956, the ground was leased to the mullen-buckley uranium corp. Who employed the colorado exploration co to further evaluate the property. The latter, after putting down 67 rotary drill holes, with an aggregate length of 4218 ft and obtaining many assays from numerous pits and trenches, reported the presence of a thinly-covered blanket-like orebody containing 45,000 tons of proven ore averaging 3.371 lb/ton, and 24,000 tons of probable and possible ore of slightly better grade. The total mercury included in all classes of these reserves adds up to a little less than 4000 flasks. In 1957 the USBM, on the basis of 27 check samples cut to evaluate a dmea proposal, concluded that indicated and inferred ore amounted to about half this quantity, with an average grade of 3.0 lb/ton. Owing to the unfavorable economic conditions, this ore had not been mined. The mull en-buckley uranium corp held their lease until at least 1961; the imperial crown mining corp leased the property 1965-1966, and in 1967 the leber mining co did additional testing. In 1971, title to the property apparently passed to h.e. Brodsky of philadelphia, who held it at least until april 1977.
