Clay quarry near Ca' de Vanni (Cà Vanni), to the north of Frassinoro (see coordinates).
Red to gray clay and silty clay beds with intercalations of sandstones and minor limestones and silty marls (Argilliti dell'Ucceliera formation).
Plates and nodules of native copper coated with alteration products (malachite, cuprite, and chalcocite) are particularly found inside the grey layers. In 1964, a fossil tree trunk (Dadoxylon araucarioide) replaced by native copper was found in a plowed field near the quarry. Chlcocite can also be found as thin lenses, sometimes containing platelets of native silver.
Cavities inside the small intercalated sandstone layers can contain pyrite, quartz, baryte, and Mn oxides.
Some septarian concretions have been found in the badlands near Ca' de Vanni.
