Uranium deposit
A mina da Ribeira do Bôco localiza-se na freguesia do Rio Torto, concelho de Gouveia e distrito da Guarda. Situa-se a cerca de 800 metros do marco geodésico denominado “Rascão” com cota de 476 metros. O acesso é feito a partir da estrada Mangualde-Gouveia, até ao km 19.350 e, a partir daqui, por um caminho que sai para NE, sendo acessível a qualquer tipo de veículo.

O aglomerado populacional mais próximo é Rio Torto, localizado a cerca de 2 km a SW. Arcozelo dista cerca de 2,5km para NE e Nespereira 3 km a Este. Cativelos a NW, dista cerca de 4 km.

A exploração mineira desta área decorreu entre 1986 e 1988. Foram exploradas 32.467 toneladas de minério, com um teor médio de 0,97% U3O8, contendo 31.684 kg de U3O8.

A corta a céu aberto tem um volume aproximado de 108.000 m3 encontrando-se parcialmente inundada (altura máxima da coluna de água, na zona mais profunda da corta, de cerca de 20 metros).

Encontram-se, nesta área, uma escombreira de estéreis (12.200 m3) e uma escombreira de minérios pobres (27.380 m3). O depósito de minério pobre cobre parcialmente a escombreira de estéreis, estando ambos pouco revegetados.
