Anhydrite cliffs outcropping on the Bras D'Or Lake, south of Iona. This small exposure produces by far the largest and finest howlite crystals in the world. Crystals are colorless, white, or brown and are about 1 cm in size, forming clusters.

The clusters are naturally eroded from the anhydrite rock by the lake water. Over the winter the snow and ice destroy all of the clusters, but new ones are exposed each year. The cliff appears to be quite precarious and as the cliff gets eroded from below, it creates large rockfalls. There is a railroad track at the top of the cliff.
