Quarries in Sec 7 & 18 T22N R3E exploiting basal Cambrian Elk Mound Group sandstone and conglomerate also expose underlying Proterozoic quartzite and Archean gneisses. The quartzite locally contains a green sericitic mica making a rock popular with local collectors.
