A former underground Ag-Cu-Pb-Au mine located ½ mile East of Groom Creek. Started in the 1880's (Discovered 1885). Reopened 1905 and again in 1920, when a large production took place. Produced 1904-1942 overall.
Mineralization is the King-Kelly fissure, a narrow vein containing fine-grained, drusy quartz that strikes N.15ºW. with a vertical or steeply westwardly dip, hosted in Green Gulch Volcanics. The ore body is lenticular. Ore control was faulting and igneous activity (especially dike emplacement). Ore concentration was oxidation at near surface. Alteration was minor.
Area structures include foliation in Precambrian rocks that trends N10E to N20E. Veins parallel foliation and crosscut it by 10 to 20 degrees, trending N20E to N-S.
