Historic gold mine.

The lease was taken out when the goldfield was declared by Corry and party in March 1894.
They found rich gold in the upper levels in a one foot wide reef of reddish-brown ironstone showing web patterns of quartz veins containing fine gold and some shotty coarse gold. Corry put through four crushings, before the lease was purchased in late 1894 by the Victoria Gold Mining Company. George Basset was appointed mine manager.

The driving force behind the company were members of the Neeld family who discovered gold on the goldfield. They soon sold out to concentrate on their own mine.
