Old quartz-feldspar quarry in granite pegmatite.

Note: In older litterature the locality is refered to as "Eitland, close to Lindesnes" (Schetelig et al. 1922). Lindesnes lighthouse was a main geographical reference point, located in the neighbor municipality. Barth (1931) locates it in the parish of Austad (Austa) wich is close to Lindesnes.

Brøgger (1906) located the quarry (most probably) erronously on p. 107 as "im Kirchspiel Vanse auf Lista" (in the parish of Vanse at Lista), but on p. 95 as "bei Lindesnes". He didn't visit the locality himself.

The altitude map and aerial pictures show the presence of several quarries near Eitland.
The 1966 aerial picture shows several trucks in the large quarry closest to the houses. Here there are actually 3 separate quarries.

That means that there has been active quarrying after 1931, and it is therefor impossible to say exactly which one the pre-1931 quarry is.

The coordinates are given for the largest quarry, while the others are located at:

58.05059°N 7.00249°E
