Within the Tianhu deposit, the third Formation of the Tianhu Group (Th3), consist of granitic gneiss, schist, and marble, are the iron ore-hosted strata. Ten orebodies have been identified in the Tianhu iron deposit with a total reserve of are thought to be at 104 Mt. The No. 1 orebody contains most of the iron ore reserves in the deposit, with a length more than 3600 m and 2–10 m thick, and average Fe2O3 grade of the ore bodies is 32.19%–50.87%. Other orebodies are relatively small in scale. Iron orebodies appear in bedded and lenticular shapes. The orebodies mainly strike east-west with north-dipping angles of 70°–80°.
