Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite
It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.

The stratigraphic frameworks exposed in the Lingqiushan district mainly consist of the Archaean to Proterozoic Dabie metamorphic complex and the Quaternary alluvium. The Precambrian Dabie metamorphic complex is the main host rocks for the quartz orebodies. It comprises biotite plagioclase amphibolite, biotite-plagioclase gneiss, biotite-dominated monzonitic gneiss, schist and monzonitic granulite, quartz-albite schist intercalations, and amphibolite-facies plagioclase-rich meta-igneous rocks. The Lingqiushan deposit has an estimated reserve of 4.03 Mt quartz ores, with an average SiO2 grade of 99.31 %. Previous exploration has identified thirteen vein-type or lenticular orebodies within the deposit. These quartz orebodies are typically 41–380 m in length and 2–45 m in width and are southeast dipping with angles of approximately 45-75°. According to the Mineral Reserve Verification Report released by the Hubei Geological Bureau, the No. III and No. IV orebodies are the largest and most productive. The No. III vein has a notable surface length of 300 m, with a width varying from 2.7 to 3.4 m. In comparison, the No. IV vein is significantly longer in length (∼380 m), but is narrower in width (2.3–2.6 m).
