Located in Highland Creek 5.3 miles (8.5 kilometers) southeast of Pinehurst, Idaho. The Highland Chief and the Surprise began as two separate entities but quickly forged and alliance and partnership. Eventually the Highland Surprise Consolidation Co. was formed and forged partnerships with the Sydney and the Nevada-Stewart Mines.
The US Bureau of mines lists the mine as producing from 1904-1971 518,000 tons of ore containing containing around 370,000 ounces of silver, 22,255,000 pounds of lead, 62,218,000 pounds of zinc, 402,000 pounds of copper, and 1,200 ounces of gold.
Development: Mine, 60 claims, over 900 acres, 275 ton per day mill, 12 patented claims.
