The Xintang-Hongtu Se deposit was first uncovered by the Hubei Geological Survey Institute in 2016. The exposed strata are predominantly Silurian to Triassic in age. A total of seven Se orebodies have been identified in the Xintang-Hongtu deposit. These orebodies exhibit a thickness range of 2.73 to 8.46 m, with an average Se grade of 134 to 341 ppm. The ore-hosting rocks are primarily composed of medium to thin layered carbonaceous shale from the middle and upper units of the Gufeng Formation, as well as medium-layered siliceous rocks from the lower unit of the Gufeng Formation.
