According to Eduard W.Rüppell, "desmin" (Strahlzeolith) is found in large isolated masses, which have been separated from weathered dolerite, in the lowlands of the Kulla north of Gondar in Abyssinia.
"From December to January 18th, 1833, we went to the Kulla, a river-rich lowland stretching to the northwest, which had been praised as a permanent residence of predators, large buffalo, antelopes and elephants."
