The carbonatites appear to be emplaced into the Taihua gneiss as a series of lenticular bodies, although their initial morphology is difficult to determine because of limited exposure and post-emplacement deformation. The central part of the bodies is composed of lighter-coloured, saccharoidal dolomite carbonatite, which is enveloped by a dark-coloured rock. The latter is texturally heterogeneous, showing appreciable variations in grain size, and is best described as magnetite–forsterite–calcite carbonatite.
