Hard Luck George; Durnan Lode; George Mine

Structure: Stank Fault Small Faults Cut And Offset The George Bed

Deposit: The george bed lies 200-300 ft above the humboldt bed and can be traced from its contact with the olsen stock south to where it is cut by the stank fault in the south face of the george pit. Along this nearly 2000 ft of outcrop, several small open pits and shafts have been developed. In 1918, at the south end of the george bed outcrop, on what was then known As the durnan lode, about 53 tons of ore, averaging 3.-59 % WO3 were mined and shipped to toulon for milling. The george bed lies 200 to 300 feet stratigraphically above the humboldt bed. It can be traced from its contact with the olsen stock south to where it is cut by the stank fault in the face of george pit. Limited mining has been done mostly in the portion of the bed lying immediately west of the springer mine. The george pit is in the stank-humboldt belt along with the humboldt, springer, stank, keyes, codd, and yellow scheelite workings. ; info.src : 2 unpub rept

Deposit type: W skarn

Development: The george open pit was developed and mined in the early 1950's.
