Type:
Volcanic Center (Extinct) - last checked 2023
Köppen climate type:
The volcanic units at Gees point are composed of the Bedded Ash Tuff Facies which dips away from the centre of the cone. Within the ash tuffs, xenoliths and lithics including eclogite are present. Throughout the volcanics, calcite veins cross-cut the units and vertical conduits, similar to Kakanui, potentially indicate the existence of past hydrothermal activity. Calcite within the volcanics are generally restricted to the calcite veins and do not act as cements for the ash and lapilli tuffs.(Fensom, 2020)
