East of Atlin lies an area of investigation to find the lode source of the placer gold from Pine Creek. Feather Creek crystalline gold and gravel clast samples were examined and samples containing red-oxidized quartz were scanned by (SEM) and (EDS) and compared the those similar clasts found in Pine Creek.

The crystalline gold from Pine Creek were compared for roundness since the alluvial gold had not traveled far from the host, lode source.

No significant placer or lode source was found in the area, but since the investigation, it is proposed that areas near or within the nearby Suprise Lake Batholith still hold clues the source.
