Puits de Combes


This colliery, whose hoisting equipment, including the winding machine, was housed in an imposing building totalling 25 metres high, had a depth of almost 338 metres. The colliery hit the headlines when a mine fire broke out underground on 3 June 1928, killing 48 miners.

The mine was owned by the mining company "Compagnie des mines de Roche-la-Moliére et Firminy".
