Deposit: Lenses of Mn ore deposited contemporaneously with the enclosing sedimentary beds. This prospect is often listed with the Mn deposits of the black diablo district in pershing county, across pumpernickel valley to the southwest. The deposits are similar in nature.
Deposit type: Replacement Mn
Geology: Ore occurs in a 7-ft thick bed of intermixed Mn-oxides and silicate. Mn ore is in pods 2-7 ft. Thick and up to 40 ft. Long, parallel to bedding.
