There are two parallel and related bands of ruby mineralizastion, the Ruby Island line (or Ruby Island line East), which includes the original Ruby Island outcrops and the Aappaluttoq mine deposit itself. Ruby Island Line West is related outcroppings of ruby and associated minerals.

This and other satellite deposits of the Aappaluttoq mine are covered under the Greenland Ruby claims and collecting here is prohibited.
