The Platta nappe is located in the Central Alps in Grisons, SE Switzerland. It corresponds to a remnant of the Alpine Tethys Ocean-Continent Transition, which formed during late Middle Jurassic when Europe and Adria separated. The Platta nappe is composed by serpentinized peridotites, mafic rocks (including basalts and gabbros) and post-rift sediments.
