Agates are confined to basalts (thickness of the layer 60–90 meters) attributable to the upper subformation of the Priozerskaya suite of the Lower Riphean. Agathonic volcanic rocks are overlain by conglomerates and gravellites of the Salma Formation. Basalt outcrops can be traced along the right and left banks of the Tulemajoki River at a distance of 150-250 m with a width of 15-60 m, forming the "Kolkhozny" threshold in the channel with a drop of 5–7 meters. Agates are more common in the southern part of the occurrence, where they create ridges in flattened bedrock outcrops. Forms of agate segregations are more often rounded, less often elongated, lenticular and veined. The usual size of agate discharge is 3-6 cm. The number of agate discharge reaches 15–20 pieces per 10 square meters. Agates of red, brown, orange colours are common, sometimes with spots of green chlorite. Also, sometimes there are inclusions of calcite, baryte, rarely amethyst-like quartz.
