A Hg-As-Sb mine located on a small terrace on the south bank of the Green River.

It worked mineralized pods and disseminations in fault breccia of two sets of faults in folded Eocene rock.

It produced about 20 flasks of mercury.
Structure: N9w Trending Asymmetrical Anticline Cut By An East-Dipping Fault.

Tectonics: Cascade Volcanic Arc

Deposit: Ore occurs As pods and disseminations in fault breccia. A model has not yet been published for this type of deposit discovery year: late 1800's

Development: Arsenic contaminates the mercury; ore concentrations distributed erratically.

Geology: MINERALIZATION IS ALONG CREST OF A TIGHTLY FOLDED ASYMMETRICAL ANTICLINE. THE MINERALIZATION IS GREATEST WHERE A FAULT CUTS THE CREST. LARGEST MINERALIZED POD CONTAINED 300 POUNDS CINNABAR. Tectonic Setting: The Eocene Rocks Were Extensively Folded And Faulted Prior To Deposition Of The Cinnabar (Livingston, 1971, P. 153-154). Ore Control: Two Sets Of Faults Cut The Folded Rocks; Mineralization Is Present Along Both Sets Of Faults. Cinnabar Mineralization Occurs In Pods And Disseminations In The Fault Breccia. Stibnite Is Common In The Nearby Cardinal Reward Property (Rice, 1962, Private Report In Dger Files). THE PUGET GROUP CONSISTS OF PREDOMINANTLY FLUVIAL AND SOME NEARSHORE MARINE SANDSTONE, SILTSTONE, CLAYSTONE, AND COAL (FRIZZELL AND OTHERS, 1984, P. 26). MUCH OF THE MINERALIZATION OCCURS AT THE CONTACT BETWEEN SANDSTONE AND CARBONACEOUS CLAYSTONE (RICE, 1962, PRIVATE REPORT).
