The Anastasia Formation is a Pleistocene limestone about 130,000 to 100,000 years old. It lines the Atlantic Coast of Florida for about 150 miles from north of St. Augustine southward to Boca Raton. It is composed of a mass of sea shells and shell fragments cemented by calcite. At this location the cliffs of the Anastasia limestone rise vertically to a height of 15 feet above the surface of the ocean.
