Affioramento della vena di quarzo, Sant'Anna di Valdieri, Valdieri, Provincia di Cuneo, Piemonte, Italia
Quartz vein outcrop on the right bank of the Gesso della Valletta stream, discovered in the 1970s. The outcrop is no longer visibile, because the site has been transformed into a rest area.
The quartz vein yielded good specimens of quartz, in association with minor adularia, albite, and hematite. A peculiarty of these quartz crystals, up to 8 cm long, is the presence of dark brown solid inclusions of an unidentified mineral, giving the crystals a smoky appearance.
