A former uranium mine that is now reclaimed, and sealed. Uranium was discovered at this locality on November 7, 1954 by James Menlove, and claims were filed the next day by both James Menlove and Melvin Dalton as the "Pete Claims". Mining started sometime in the 1960s and continued intermittently through leases to several owners, and finally ceased in June 1987 when caving of the tunnels became a problem.

The ore occurs in mudstones and sandstones of the Morrison Formation of Jurassic age. The main ore mineral was uraninite, which was disseminated in the mudstone. Organic material was scarce, and the uraninite only occurred as tiny grains rather than large masses found in other Colorado Plateau type deposits. Total production amounted to 60,854 tons of ore, which yielded 210,740 pounds (ca. 96 ton) of U3O8.

The mine is located on the north wall of Black Steer Canyon, about 2.5 miles (ca. 4 km) northeast of Hatch Trading post, and 21.5 miles (ca. 35 km) southeast of Blanding, Utah.
