A former Ag-Zn-Pb-Cu-Au occurrence/mine located in the SE¼SW¼NE¼ sec. 11, T23N, R18W, G&SRM, SE of Chloride, on Bureau of Land Management administered land. Owned by Mrs. Gutman, Arizona (1960). Previous owners and operators include Thomas Thornton, Arizona Mohave Mines and Development Company, G.B. Butcher, L.V. Koontz, Dan J. Barksdale, FGrank Grannis, W.C. Babcock, Sam Berryman, and the Chloride Mining Company. Operated by W.C. Nelson, Arizona (1960). Operated during the period 1901-1956. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 1,000 meters.
In the vicinity of the Emerson mine are several other smaller properties, of which the most important are the Hidden Treasure, New Jersey, Manzanita, Good Eoad, and Mother Lode. The ores in these properties usually contain gold, silver, pyrite and galena.
The Hidden Treasure is reported to contain five parallel veins ranging from 2 to 8 feet in width, and is developed by several shafts, of which the deepest is 118 feet deep. The ore contains gold, silver, and lead, of which select lots run 3 ounces of gold and 10 ounces of silver to the ton, and 10 per cent of lead.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granite. The ore body strikes N50W and dips NE at a width of 4.57 meters. There are 5 or more parallel fissure veins, generally dipping 77NE, but one of which dips SW. The mineralization is associated with a Late Cretaceous porphyry intrusion. Associated rocks include Neoproterozoic granite. Local rocks include Early Proterozoic granitic rocks.
Regional geologic structures include Precambrian schistosity that strikes N30ºE. Veins, fissures and dikes strike NW to NNW regionally.
Workings include underground openings with a length of 914.4 meters and an overall depth of 35.97 meters and are comprised of a 305 foot tunnel, a 150 foot tunnel, 3 shafts of 118, 65 & 45 feet plus other smaller shafts.
