A former Pb-Ag-Au-Zn-Cu-pyrite occurrence/mine located in the NE¼NE¼NW¼ sec. 2, T23N, R18W, G&SRM, 1 mile ENE of Chloride, on private (?) or Bureau of Land Management administered land. Owned by R. A. Thurstin, Arizona (1943). Closed 1917. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 500 meters.
The New Jersey mine is developed by a 90-foot shaft and about 500 feet of drift. The vein strikes northwest. The face of the drift shows 16 inches of ore, with pyrite and galena, carrying good gold and silver values. Some of the ore has been shipped to the smelter.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite. The ore body strikes N50W and dips 90 at a width of 0.61 meter. The mineralization is associated with a Late Cretaceous porphyry intrusion. Associated rocks include Neoproterozoic granite. Local rocks include Early Proterozoic granitic rocks.
Regional geologic features include Precambrian schistosity that strikes N30ºE. Veins, fissures and dikes strike NW to NNW regionally.
Workings include underground openings with a length of 152.4 meters and an overall depth of 27.43 meters.
