Quarries working the so-called 'Hilbersdorf Porphyrtuff' (an ignimbritic tuff sequence) in the Zeisigwald area, at the border of the suburb.
Quarrying was active from the 19th century to shortly after WWII.

The quarry is famous for being the main locality of the Chemnitz Petrified Forest.
