Monarch Ranch; Copper Blue Area
In Copper Blue area
Alteration: Serpentinization, Argillization
Deposit: Ni, cr, and co were found in serpentinite. Also, turquoise was mined along a fault, and chrysotile was seen in fractures cutting serpentinite.
Development: The property was drilled in 1960. Magnetic and I. P. Surveys were made by pilot exploration in 1965, followed by limited physical exploration.
Geology: Serpentinized body appears to be upfaulted block; separated by alluvium from outcrop of diabase on the east. A 400-ft drill hole remained in serpentinite all the way, but another bottomed in ordovician transitional rocks similar to those at manhattan. Dolomitic masses faulted against the serpentinite may be cambrian, and are probably altered sedimentary beds, and not carbonatized serpentinite.
Ore(s): Shear Zones
