The Lost Steers Mine is near Mina, Nevada. Historically the site has been part of the Pilot Mountains Mining District. The site was first discovered in 1913 by Thomas Pepper & Charles Keough. The Lost Steers Mine was closed at the time of data entry with no known plans to re-open. Production size when active was considered to be small. The ore mined is composed of calomel and cinnabar with waste material consisting primarily of stibiconite, barite and quartz. The ore body is described as having an irregular shape of unknown dimensions. The host rock in this area is limestone from the Lower Jurassic epoch 201.30 to 174.10 million years ago. (USGS10045339)

Geology: Triassic sedimentary and volcanic rocks were folded and thrust faulted in early jurassic. These are overlain and intruded by tert andesite and rhyolite. Subsequent normal faulting. ; major.units: mesozoic sedimentary rocks ; geol.desc: below lost steers thrust fault
