A W-Cu occurrence/claim located in sec. 29, T14N, R12W, G&SRM, 5½ miles NE of Signal, N57W of Greenwood Peak, S of Burro Creek just E of its confluence with the Big Sandy River, on Bureau of Land Management administered land. Owned by Mrs. Jesus Levas. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 100 meters. NOTE: MRDS file #10027611 presents MRDS file #10162314 as a related file; however, the latter file pertains to another locality in Yavapai County.
Mineralization is a glassy quartz vein, hosted in gneiss, at 1 to 1½ feet wide, that strikes S83W and dips 60N, and is traceable intermittently for some 600 feet. The ore body strikes N83E and dips 60N at a width of 0.46 meter (1½ feet) and a length of 182.88 meters. Locally, at least, it strikes and dips conformably with the gneiss and has been offset by minor amounts of faulting. Wall rocks are strongly sericitized. Associated rocks include Pliocene-Neoproterozoic aphanitic volcanic rock. Local rocks include Early Proterozoic granitic rocks.
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 54.86 meters, an overall length of 30.48 meters and an overall width of 6.1 meters, and comprised of a shallow pit with a 30 foot (10 meter) long adit.
Production statistics: Year: 1940 (period = 1940's): ore (estimated): ^4.56% WO3 (sorted ore). Yielded a few hundred pounds of W ore during WWI and also in 1937.
Analytical data results: Assays taken by the U.S. Bureau of Mines in 1944: 0.01, 1.12, 1.38, 7.88, 0.06, 1.59, nil, nil, 4.23, 0.24, 0.17, & 2.43% WO3.
