A placer Au occurrence/mine located in the SW¼SW¼ sec. 15, T29N, R17W, G&SRM, SSW of Meadview proper, on Bureau of land Management administered land. Owned & operated by J. E. Terral, Arizona (1945). Worked heavily in the late 1950's. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 500 meters.
Yellow-gray, distinctly foliated to laminated quartzofeldspathic, medium-grained gneiss is the dominant clast type. Sub-angular to sub-rounded boulders as much as 0.6 meters diameter are common. Pyritic vein quartz is present but uncommon, and some pyritic and feldspathic altered wall rock of quartzofeldspathic gneiss is present. Gold and limonite pseudomorphs after pyrite were found northward. Reportedly gold fragments greater than 1 mm were very common. Local rocks include Pliocene to middle Miocene deposits.
