A W-Au placer occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ sec. 9, T29N, R17W, G&SRM, 8 miles from the Colorado River, on Bureau of Land Management administered land . Discovered in 1931 Started operations in 1934 and ceased operations in 1942. Owned & operated by Placer Mining Resources Inter. of Colorado, Colorado (1977). Located SE of the Climax Mine and East of the Golden Mile Mine. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 500 meters.

Mineralization is a placer Au-W deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 119; USGS model code: 39a; BC deposit profile: C01. C02; deposit model name: Placer Au-PGE; Mark3 model number: 54), hosted in Late Cretaceous to Holocene gravel. The ore body is 0.61 meter (2 feet) thick and 12,874.4 meters long. Controls for ore emplacement include probable erosion of gold-bearing quartz veins in the Lost Basin Range. The gold-bearing gravels consist of slabby schist pebbles, with abundant silt and sand. The Gold occurs as fine material and flat, rugged nuggets up to 1/16 ounce. The Au particles become progressively finer grained to the NE. Local rocks include Pliocene to middle Miocene deposits.

Analytical data results: Average test values: $0.69 per cubic yard. Result: $1.17 per cubic yard.
