A former small underground Au-Ag-Pb-Cu-Zn mine located in East-central sec. 3, T16S, R2E, G&SRM (protracted), 7 miles SW of the Quijotoa Trading Post. Produced 1890-1910. Owned by the Weldon Gold & Copper Co.
Mineralization is spotty free gold and silver chlorides with minor, largely oxidized, base metal sulfides in pockety lenses of quartz, hematite, manganese oxides, breccia, and gouge along a fault contact zone between Laramide andesitic volcanics and a granitic intrusion.
Workings include shaft and tunnel operations. prospected and worked intermittently since the 1880's to the early 1900's. Estimated production could be some 2,500 tons of ore containing about 1 oz./ton each of Au & Ag and minor Cu & Pb.
