A former underground Cu-Ag-Zn-Pb-Au mine group located in the SE ¼ sec. 24 & the NE ¼ sec. 25, T.18S., R.15E., on private (patented) land. First produced 1870. Owned/operated at times, or in part, by the Lewisohn Copper Co.; Brown; Ramsdell; Narragansett Mines Co.; Holderness; Steinfeld & Co.; Bennett; and the Wilson Mining Co. (1961). Mine workings underlie the Narragansett, Daylight, Triangle, and York Patented claims, all of which are part of the Helvetia property owned by ASARCO (1992).
Mineralization is copper carbonates with minor sulfides and local areas of lead and zinc minerals in irregular, pyrometasomatic replacement orebodies in intensely silicated and crushed Paleozoic limestone along folded series of thrust-faulted block segments.
Workings include tunnels and shafts. Averaged 7.01% Cu. Yielded 13,248 tons (1,611,429 lbs.) Cu (1917). 1870-1961 Average 4% Cu, 0.5 Oz/ton Ag 90000 tons.
