A former small surface and underground Cu-Ag-Au-W-Mo mine located in East-central sec. 24, T.18S., R.15E. (Sahuarita 15 minute topo map), 2 miles ESE of Helvetia. Produced 1956-1959. Owned/operated by the Lewisohn Copper Corp.
Mineralization is irregular copper minerals, largely oxidized, in strongly brecciated Permian quartzite, silicated Permian limestone and bordering Laramide quartz latite porphyry along a fault zone. Some disseminated scheelite and spots of molybdenite. Alteration is oxidation; and, silcation of limestone. Ore strikes E-W and dips 80S.
Workings include tunnels from the adjoining Exile claim and a pit. Produced some 3,600 tons of ore in the late 1950's. This ore averaged better than 5% Cu and 10 oz. Ag/T with minor gold.
