A former underground Cu-Ag-Au-Hg mine/occurrence located in West-central sec. 11, T.16S., R.8E. (San Vicente 15 minute topo map), North of the Coyote Mountains and 11½ miles SE of Indian village Schuchk. Owned by Randolph and Huntington. NOTE: Alternate coordinates provided: 32.01667N, 111.5W.
NOTE: Anthony, et al places this mine in the Roskruge Mountains; however, Heindl (1965) clearly illustrates and describes this mine as lying between the Roskruge Mountains and the Coyote Mountains, nearer to the latter, consistent with Keith Bull. 189.
Mineralization is disseminations, streaks, and fracture fillings of native copper, copper carbonates, oxides and sparse sulfides and sulfosalts with native mercury. All with quartz, calcite and epidote in strongly altered and kaolinized Laramide andesitic volcanics and Cretaceous (?) arenitic sediments along a strong fault zone cut by cross-fracture zones. Deep oxidation (to 800 feet) and reported aplitic or pegmatitic quartz monzonite cut at depth.
Workings include shaft operations. Originally developed prior to 1900 and further developed in 1920-1921. recent diamond drilling (circa 1970). No production reported but ore said to average about 3% Cu in place with good silver and minor gold values. Reportedly some spots of 0.8% Hg.
