A former small underground Au-Ag-Pb-Cu-Zn-W mine located in the NW ¼ sec. 36, T.19S., R.7E., 17 miles N of Sasabe. Produced 1930-1941. Owned at times, or in part, by the Arizona Jupiter Mines, Inc.; Shattuck-Denn Mining Corp.; Flynn; Lamp; Larrys; A.H. Warner; and, G.F. Dennelly. Operated by A.L. Kemp.

Mineralization is strong, coarse-grained, discontinuous mineralized quartz-calcite fissure veins containing partly oxidized, spotty, auriferous and argentiferous pyrite and minor base metal sulfides, cutting metamorphosed Cretaceous sedimentary beds intruded by granite and diorite dikes.

Workings include shafts, tunnels and several thousand feet of underground workings. Prospected prior to 1900 with intermittent production from 1930 to 1941. Some 400 tons of ore were produced averaging about 0.7 oz. Au/T, 12 oz. Ag/T, and minor lead and copper. Exploratory drilling for large-tonnage, low-grade open pit operation in 1974 yielded negative results. Mill in ruins. Nowlan and others (1989) include Iowana Mine (MRDS record M050219) with the Jupiter Mine.
