Structure: Flat-Lying Red Beds Abut Against Granite Knobs
Tectonics: Interior Basin; Deltaic Red Bed Margin
Deposit: Probably weathered barite nodules with malachite stains outcrop shumard (1854, p. 182) mentions gypsum fragments with traces of copper, with sandstone above a red clay, near base of one of the granite outcrops. Havens (1977) maps this As garber sandstone.
Geology: Probably barite nodules with malachite occur in a shale in the garber sandstone. It is likely that the nodules were seen in the nw-21-2n-16w, on the w. Side of deep red run, where there is a 30-ft cliff and badlands topography. Where the nodules are eroded, only the barite centers remain, resembling gypsum. Havens (1977) mapped the geology.
