A long and deep gert runs parallel to the road with 2 banks thrown across it in the lower part possibly with associated shafts. Another smaller gert runs parallel to the south and the uppermost part has been turned into a tunnel for a pipe carrying water from the Swincombe Reservoir half a mile upstream through to Hexworthy.

The large level area built up on the valley side at the end of the main gert might possibly have been a dressing floor with jigging tables as at Hooten Wheals. There is an extensive area of marsh transected by ridges presumably of spoil in the bottom of the valley.

A single track private road now runs in a curve along the hillside south of the site. Where the stream runs under the road a section of tram rail has been fixed into a shallow wall. This would seem to correspond to the location of a water wheel shown on the 1886 Ordnance Survey 1:2500 map. The same map shows what are presumably buddles to the left of the stream.

If the road is followed on, where it rises and begins to turn left there is a depression on the right, a blowing house marked on the 1905 OS map but not the 1886. The lower stone of a crazing mill is lent against the grass slope whilst the top stone is amongst the grass in the opposite corner. The lower stone is about 36 inches diameter, whereas the upper stone is maybe 28 inches, this difference is apparent in the slight depression worn in the lower stone. This suggests the lower stone is 'right way up' though it may have course been flipped during its lifetime and there may be another wear mark on the other side if it was turned over. The upper stone is 'right way up' as it is domed on the exposed face with 4 holes to take the driving pins. Dec. 2020
