Comment - morphology: The deposit is in a stockwerk, which would have the shape of a chimney or a mushroom, oriented at N030/65. It is about 28 m long, 4 m wide and more than 10 m deep.
Location Reference: The old mine shaft is approximately 2.9 km SW of Stratford.
Discovery Comments: The showing was discovered in 1914 following a forest fire.
Lithology Comments: The showing is located in the Ascot-Weedon Group. Lithologies in this area have been metamorphosed by a Devonian granitic intrusive. Chlorite, actinote, quartz, feldspar hornfels (mafic to intermediate metavolcanites and metatufs) as well as quartz, feldspar and sericite hornfels (felsic metavolcanites and metatufs) are found. Locally, garnet and biotite are observed in these lithologies. Mineralized quartz-anthophyllite-sericite stockwork intersects the felsic volcanics. The felsites (rhyolitic) are lepidoblastic, pyroclastic, schistose and in net contact with mafic rocks. Mafites are also lepidoblastic and schistose. A quartz porphyry (microporphyry) underlying the mineralization is intruding into the mafites. It is a granitic stock of Devonian age.
Comment - Mineralization: The mineralization consists of a very intense pyrite-quartz stockwork and fine disseminations of pyrite, pyrrhotite and magnetite.
