A former underground Pb-Ag-Cu-Zn-Au mine located in South-central (SW¼SE¼) sec. 17, T.21S., R.15E., ¼ mile SE of the Viceroy Mine, in an east fork of Squaw Gulch, at an elevation of 5,580 feet, on National Forest land. It was located about 1895 and relocated in 1904. Owned at times, or in part, by Bacon & Koon (1904); Pierce; the Victor Mining Co.; Weaver; and the Fortuna Mining Co.

Mineralization is a narrow, irregular quartz-fissure vein containing sulfides that are largely oxidized near the surface. The wall rock is Jurassic granite.

The country rock is granite porphyry, and it is cut by a system of east-west faults. Some of the fault fissures contain mineral-bearing quartz veins, in one of which most of the deposits occur. This vein, which is followed by the tunnel in an irregular easterly course, is 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 cm) wide and is contained between good walls with gouge on either side. At the face of the adit the vein is cut obliquely by a N.70ºE. fault, that is an oreshoot that pitches to the west and has a width of 15 feet on the strike of the vein. There is about 6 inches of quartz carrying some mineral.

Workings include a 330 foot long tunnel, a 90 foot raise and an 80 foot drift. Worked sporadically from the late 1800's through 1959. Produced some 800 tons of ore averaging about 10% Pb, 5 oz. Ag/T and minor Zn, Cu and Au.
