A former small underground Pb-Ag-Cu-Zn-Au mine located in East-central sec. 12, T.21S., R.14E, 8 miles NW of Patagonia, N of Alto Gulch, on National Forest land. Produced 1945-1955. Owned at times, or in part, by Moreno; Costa & Moriss; Manson mining Co.; Magoffe; and, San Ramon Mines.
Mineralization is lensing quartz-fissure vein containing oxidized sulfides with silver enrichment near the surface, cutting Cretaceous arkose and rhyodacite tuff and Jurassic granite close to intrusive Laramide diorite.
Workings include shaft and tunnel operations. Worked mainly from the mid-1940's through the mid-1950's. Produced some 250 tons of ore averaging about 8% Pb, 7 oz. Ag/T, 2.5% Zn, 1% Cu and minor Au.
